Ways to get involved...

Administrative & Research

Team

The Administrative & Research Team assists with grant-writing; social media management and development; researching proposed projects on planning commission agendas, real estate, local species, laws, property tax exemptions; developing maps of potential land acquisitions; and other special projects. Volunteers with a skill set or interest in more administrative or research-oriented tasks, or that live remotely or have physical limitations, are perfect for these roles. Someone from our team will have a conversation with you about your skills and interests and you’ll have a brief training session to understand project goals.

Community Outreach & Education

Team

The Community Outreach & Education Team helps to spread the word about the work of Oswit Land Trust and the many ways to support us. Volunteers staff tables and booths at trailheads, the Saturday Palm Springs Farmer’s Market, community events (like the ONE-PS picnic and Wildflower Festival etc.) It’s a great opportunity to meet others in the community, educate about OLT's mission, get them signed up for the newsletter, recruit volunteers, and promote donations. Volunteers who have graphic design skills are also needed. Other project needs include creating graphics, presentations, flyers, posters and pamphlets.

Crew & Land Maintenance

Team

The Crew removes trash from wildlife habitats, pulls invasive plants, establishes and maintains trails, waters trees, and other conservation and land maintenance projects. Volunteers of all abilities and endurance levels are encouraged to participate. Training and guidance is provided by the Crew coordinator, conservation ranger, and other OLT staff. Other projects can include maintenance of the Prescott Preserve HQ building, gathering locally sourced seeds to support local butterflies, moths and birds, and participating in planting events on OLT properties.

Event Volunteers

Team

Event volunteers assist with the planning of fundraising, educational, and other events that help to promote Oswit Land Trust. Assistance needed includes event production, catering, vendor coordination, and helping with registration, parking, set-up, breakdown, and event donations. This team provides opportunities to meet other conservation- minded people and share our mission with the community.

Trail Ambassador

Team

The Trail Ambassador Team members can sign up for time slots at either Prescott Preserve or Oswit Canyons to patrol and support the work of the conservation rangers. Duties include identifying trash or debris that may have accumulated, educating hikers/ walkers on the rules of that particular property, and generally identifying any problems noted on their patrol. Volunteers of all abilities and endurance levels are encouraged to participate. There is an orientation video to view and a liability waiver to be reviewed and signed. Trail maps and property guidelines will be provided.
