Acres of critical habitat for the bighorn sheep, the desert tortoise and other native protected species. Because of its scenic character, the property is a local favorite for hikers.

In 2004, conservation organizations and residents vehemently opposed a massive development project that included houses, hotels, and a golf course on the site. Since then, this property has become the pinnacle of conservation efforts in the Coachella Valley. Oswit Land Trust (OLT) takes great pride in facilitating negotiations with the developer and collaborating with the Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy Center (CVMC) and the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission (CVCC) to secure its purchase. OLT now holds title to nearly 300 acres of this vast property, which stands as the largest conservation acquisition in the history of the Coachella Valley. This expansive landmass is home to critical habitat for endangered species such as the bighorn sheep and the desert tortoise, as well as other native protected species. Moreover, the property’s scenic beauty makes it a popular destination for hikers, cherished by the local community.
